Molly is an artist
that works in multiple mediums including, woodworking, painting, baking, and
food photography. She liked the idea of working in different ways and in
different mediums to express her creativity. I loved that she was so open to
expressing herself in different ways and straying from the idea of what people typically
think of an artist. She gave a beautiful piece of advice revolving around the idea
that one doesn’t have to have a degree in the field that they work in to be
successful. Although she graduated with an art degree, she worked in restaurants
and had time for art where she felt much happier with her life, than when she
worked as an architect and actually used her degree.
Myles is an engineer
and loves the idea of functional art, which allowed him to overlap his skills as
an artist and engineer. He was also a woodworker, which is how he met Molly. Together
they decided they wanted to build a portable tiny house, so they could live in
it and travel. They designed the floor plans of the house and bought a school
bus as the base of their house. I was amazing to see how they worked through
the whole project, troubleshooting problems that other people had never
encountered before. With their artistic ability and will to find a way to
complete their project, Molly and Myles were extremely inspiring. They were
willing to build their own house to utilize their artistic ability and get the
house that they wanted.
